What would you say is the best brand of angle grinder? There are so many different brands and models that it is hard to decide which kind is right for me. I am looking to cut chipboard and cut through an old metal fence.
Well, that is a very difficult question to answer! Almost all the modern brands these days such as Makita, DeWalt, Bosch, etc are of a very high quality, if you have a look at reviews for these makes they generally are mainly positive. Almost all modern angle grinders will work well enough to complete the task you describe.
So I am not going to answer this question directly, I would instead encourage you to look through the reviews at a site like Amazon and make you own mind up. They have a wide selection of angle grinders for sale and you can browse until you find one that is right for you.
Alternatively, have a look at out Top 5 Angle Grinders roundup and see if any of the models listed there appeal to your needs. There really is not brand of angle grinder that is any better than other brands, tradesmen typically find a brand that works for them and then stay loyal to it over the course of their career. Some brands have side handles which help hold the angle grinder, while others like Hitachi vary this design a little with the handle coming off at a slight angle – some people prefer this type of grinder.
There is a generall feeling in the trade I suppose that Makita and DeWalt make the best angle grinders, but in general the manufacturing standards of all the angle grinder makers is about the same. Find a brand that you like, and stick with it, that is my advice!
